16th Young Librarians Forum

The Young Librarians Forum is a nationwide event aimed at library professionals. This year's 16th edition will be held on September 12-13, 2024 in Torun under the theme “Library - evolution - revolution”.  The organizers of the event are the University Library of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the Provincial Public Library - Książnica Kopernikańska in Toruń and the Polish Librarians Association.

The Forum will be inaugurated by the presentation of awards of the Polish Librarians Association to the winners of the competition for the most interesting action carried out within the framework of the XXI National Library Week 2024 and presentation of award to the winner of the PLA Youth Award named after Prof. Maria Dembowska. The theme of the lectures, workshops and panel discussions will be issues related to technological progress, artificial intelligence and psychological aspects of the work of a librarian. There will be examples of local government support for library activities, environmental education in libraries and good practices in library fundraising. 

After the plenary part, participants will have the opportunity to improve their qualifications and acquire new skills at workshops. How to successfully lead a project or meeting, how to use artificial intelligence, data analysis and other innovative tools to create a space open to new possibilities and ideas, and how to prepare “explorer expeditions” - sightseeing field games based on local heritage. These are just some of the topics covered in the workshop. There will also be an opportunity to take care of psycho-physical well-being by immersing in a micro-experience of working with the body, mind and energy of action. 

On the first day, the Forum's deliberations will take place in the building of the University Library of the NCU in Toruń, and on the second day in the Mediatheque in the Mills at 77 Tadeusza Kosciuszki St. A detailed program is available on the event's website.
