Ladies and Gentlemen!

Christmas is fast approaching and on this occasion another commemorative exhibition has appeared on the third floor of the Library. These are Christmas cards made by a Polish émigré, Władysław R. Szomański. 

Władysław R. Szomanski has created the Christmas collection on display in the form of papier-mache and three-dimensional structures.  Influenced by Cubism, the artist was concerned with the strict cut of solids and classical proportions, hence his Christmas cards are graceful and elegant, and at the same time breathe humour.
